![]() Lucy's one of those people that can just make friends with anyone instantly and talk to strangers. She's me on my best day when I'm feeling confident. GV: Yeah! I feel like Lucy is all the sparkliest, fluffiest thoughts of myself. She's very loud, brash, and frequently the pusher rather than being pushed into things. PS: I love that! And that's one of the things I loved about Lucy, she wears her heart on her sleeve, but not in a superdelicate way. We just had this instant bond and I just really wanted to make this movie with her, and make something fun, sweet, and thoughtful. And then I met and soon realized that the essence of Natalie is very much in Lucy and I fell in love with Natalie simultaneously. I loved her outgoing-ness and how much she wears her heart on her sleeve - I find that inspiring. I thought she was a cool character and someone that I would want to be friends with, someone that I admired. Geraldine Viswanathan: I read the script and I had so much fun reading it and I fell in love with Lucy. POPSUGAR: So what drew you both to the project and the roles of Lucy and Nick? ![]() POPSUGAR chatted with the stars of the film and dug deeper into what makes The Broken Hearts Gallery such a good time, as well as the art of improv and how romance is back in style. Even when outside drama comes into play - and it must, because that's the rules of rom-coms - the allure and charm of Lucy and Nick are too good to let go. And the perfect place for her exhibition has to be the Chloe Hotel, which just happens to be Nick's beloved work in progress! As the two work together to bring their visions to life, their progression from reluctant friends to budding romantic partners is sweet in its simplicity. After getting fired from her job and a humiliating breakup with her latest boyfriend, Lucy is inspired to create The Broken Heart Gallery, a pop-up space for the items love has left behind. Lucy, a gallery assistant with big ideas and an even bigger heart, is an emotional hoarder that collects keepsakes from all her relationships. Geraldine Viswanathan and Dacre Montgomery are perfectly cast as the effervescent Lucy and the sullen Nick, respectively, two 20-somethings who unexpectedly find their way into each other's lives. So when I heard about a rom-com that follows a young woman who decides to start a gallery where people can leave trinkets from past relationships, I had to get my greedy little hands on it! The Broken Hearts Gallery is everything I could have asked for as a stay-at-home watch: it's cheesy but not over the top, angsty but funny enough to strike the perfect balance, and just plain fun! It's a unique concept filled with treasures from former lovers and more than enough stories to get my overly sensitive heart bursting with feelings. Elton John was an executive producer on It's A Boy Girl Thing, and songs from his back catalog appear on the soundtrack. As an Aquarius sun with a Pisces Venus, The Museum of Broken Relationships has everything I could ever want. Neither is comfortable with their sudden gender switch or having to assume the other's personalities, but they quickly realize that until they can find a way to reverse the spell, they have to work together if Nell is to go to Yale and Woody is to get his scholarship and move away from this loutish parents (Sharon Osborne and Maury Chaykin. Nell and Woody are not at all friendly and normally have nothing to say to one another, but one day during a class field trip to a historical museum, the two fall under the spell of an Incan icon and when they awake the next morning, Woody's mind is in Nell's body, and vice versa. Nell (Samaire Armstrong) is a pretty but hopelessly geeky teenage girl who loves Shakespeare and wants little more than to study literature at Yale when she graduates from high school in a few months Woody (Kevin Zegers), who lives next door, is the quarterback on the school's football team, and seems like a sure bet to land a lucrative football scholarship despite the fact he isn't especially bright. Two kids with nothing in common are brought together in a very unexpected way in this comedy. ![]()
